The Voice Of GOD

Read carefully and pray after reading

I remember a time I was listening to Spotify on my phone. Then a really loud person walked into the room. I had to keep turning the volume up on my phone to be able to listen attentively. I didn’t want to hear the loud person; I didn’t want to be distracted, wanted to finish the Podcast (teachings).

In the same way, our world is very noisy. Distractions are everywhere. However, if we value God’s voice, we will do whatever it takes to turn up the volume to hear Him clearly. When God’s voice is increased in our lives, we will hear what He has to say clearly.

Matthew 1:20 (NIV):
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

Joseph had to do this in his life. He had to hear the angel of the Lord. Joseph could have ignored and be distracted by the volume of the world, the trends – such as how can a woman be pregnant without a man sleeping with her. He could have listened to the voice of the devil: “Mary is cheating on you; the angel is covering up her mess”. It would have probably been easier for Joseph to say NO to the voice of the angel. Instead, he decided to value God speaking to him through the angel and obey what the angel said.

In the same way, you can decide to do whatever it takes to hear from God, and ignore the voice of the devil. Value what God has to say in your life. Sometimes that means turning off the TV or spending less time on your phone to hear God’s voice.

God wants to speak to you and tell you things about your future. He wants to help you in your academics, business or whatsoever you are trusting Him for. It’s just up to you to learn to listen to His voice. You start to do this by valuing what He has to say to you. As you spend time in prayers and reading your Bible, you’ll become more sensitive to what He has to say.

So, decide to make prayer and Bible reading a priority in your life. As you spend time with God, you automatically increase the volume for Him to speak more to you, and for you to hear Him better. Don’t wait for a prophet or pastor before you can hear from God. You’re a child of God! Do you need someone before you can hear from your earthly father? No!

A Father is always ready to speak directly to His child. So also God is ready to speak to you and I. All we need to do is to give Him all attention, by staying away from distractions.

Distractions can come in many ways: addiction to phone pressing, addiction to watching movies, addiction to trends of the world: slangs, indecent dressings, sin and more. All these will make God stay far away from us, not ready to speak to us. Let’s give God attention this year. Hope you learnt something? You can read again and pray the prayers below. God bless you!

PRAYERS:
● Lord by your mercy, take away every distraction disconnecting You from speaking directly to me.

● Lord I want to hear directly from you. Speak to me in a language that I understand.

● Lord I increase my volume and reduce every noise around. I desire to hear you clearly. More of you and less of me!
